Honestly, I do not know what happened. Gabe and I made the worst choco. chip cookies today! I bet it was those pesky eggs. We’ve been doing so well without them that the other ingredients probably didn’t know what to do with themselves. That’s what it was. The baking soda decided its services weren’t required because the culturally prominent leavener was back. Yes, the baking soda quit and the dish ran away with the spoon.
In a surprising turn of events, Mr. N handed the grocery money to me this morning. *gasp* Without wasting any time, I ran to the store and picked up a few things I needed, including a package of may-contain-traces-of-dairy Ghirardelli’s semisweet chocolate chips. Mr. N has been doing great with his eating and work outs so I thought I would make some homemade chocolate chip cookies - his fave, that Homer, aka the other dairy-free person in this house, could also eat. The things are about like thin peanut brittle, only wheat flour brittle. They’re just awful and very un cookie-like.
You know what that means, don’t you? That means I will have to try again until I get it right. I shall not be whipped by cookies. Or fondant, if you recall.

I read 1 John 1 this morning. I’m always compelled to go back and reread John 1, at least the first few verses, after reading 1 John 1. Even if I didn’t already know it, it seems obvious that those books are written by the same guy.
1 John 1:1, 2
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched - this we proclaim concernng the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
I wonder why John used the word Word. Okay, I think Revelation 19:13 lends insight into that. In reference to Jesus, it says, “… and his name is the Word of God.” I never noticed that before.
Things in 1 John 1 that jump out at me:
we have heard
we have seen with our eyes
we have looked at
our hands have touched
we have seen it
we have seen and heard
we have heard
Do ya think he was trying to get the point across that he and others had seen Jesus??
v 3, 4
We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.
What we have seen and heard, straight from the source!
v 5
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
It seems so awesome that this guy is talking about what he heard and saw Jesus say and do. How amazing that must’ve been! It makes chocolate chip cookies, successful or failed, seem pretty insignificant and dull.
