John 8:34-36
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Ephesians 3:14-19
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
My ‘Thankful’ list:
- I am so thankful for my families, both my earthly family and my brothers and sisters in Christ.
- I am thankful for the warm, open environment in which we celebrated Thanksgiving when I was a kid, where anyone was welcome at our table. I wish my home was set up more like that. Someday!
- I am thankful to be a part of a church that places a strong emphasis on living by the truth of God’s Word. What a comfort to be a part of a group of people who believe the whole thing and not just a couple of parts out of context. It is also a comfort to hear sermons about my faults and that all of my failings can be overcome in God’s strength - and that God is faithful even when I am not.
