Thanksgiving Week 2007 – Days 6 & 7 – The Nicklebee Edition

Psalm 138:4

May all the kings of the earth praise you, O LORD,
when they hear the words of your mouth.

I love that Thanksgiving is a federal holiday. The president and the various gov’t leaders may not be “kings of the earth”, but Thanksgiving Day started out as a day to give thanks to the God of creation for all He has done.

Thanksgiving Day 2007

We enjoyed a good dinner with my side of the family this year. Mr. N had to work so that part stunk. As Mr. N’less dinners go, this was a good one. There was turkey, ham, stuffed pumpkin, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, home made rolls, and fruit salad, a pumpkin roll, pumpkin pie, blueberry pie and pumpkin oatmeal cookies. The veggies were not missed, though, for the sake of good health, I suppose we’ll try to remember those next time. I don’t know why we missed them this year because everyone normally grazes on raw veggies all day.

Everything was dairy free and egg free. It was fun to be able to eat almost everything on the table. Well, not literally everything on the table.

The kids played outside almost all afternoon even though it wasn’t warm. We had the added bonus of bringing my niece, Peanut, my sister’s clone, home with us. I had told her last Christmas that I would help her make something for her Mom for Christmas this year, so she spent a couple of nights with us. She had pretty much finished her project last evening so they were free to play all morning.

Unlike many folks, we stayed home and enjoyed the slower pace of Black Friday spent at home. It was so nice to not have any commitments, well, except to help Peanut with her project.

Everyone got together again today at the Grandparents’ house to decorate Christmas cookies. That was fun but I didn’t eat nearly as many cookies as I was tempted to eat. They were for a good cause.

We had the privilege of seeing *Mr. Noojen’s baby sister, *Cheyenne.

Oh, I just want to pinch her little cheeks! Congrats on being able to eat just about everything. I know how that feels.

  2. Mrs. Nicklebee Says:

Her cheeks are VERY pinchable. Even MORE pinchable in real life. Pinchable and kissable.

  3. Heidi Says:

Mr. Noojen has a baby sister? I think I must be confused. She’s adorable!

  4. Mrs. Nicklebee Says:

No, you’re not, though it is confusing. ;)
