Gluten Free Living

There is a possibility that I will be eliminating one more category from my diet. Oh joy! Thankfully, God gave me friends, whom I shall eventually link to specifically as it relates to this, even if they’re already on my blog roll, who have already started down that road as I get my bearings.

For now, I’d like to share a link to a blog I surfed into this morning that makes an excellent point regarding the use of the term “cross-contamination”. I use that phrase regularly and, after reading that post, I will definitely be changing my ways and referring to the thing as “cross-contact”. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t know someone with food issues, so I highly recommend this post to everyone who isn’t leading a reclusive life and who might have occasion to share a meal with someone else.

It is “Cross-Contact” NOT “Cross-Contamination”

I plan on updating, possibly rearranging, and most likely renaming my Food Allergies section in the near future to include information on gluten free living and anything else I think someone else might find useful regarding the violence certain foods do to the bodies of some people.

The good news might be, that if you do need to eliminate gluten, it’s at least possible that your current food allergies/intolerances may turn out to be “secondary.” Meaning, that, if gluten is messing you up, once you’re healed from it, you may find that you can again eat the things which previously bothered you. Then, again, maybe not. But, at least it’s a possibility. When I first went g.f., I also figured out that I was allergic/intolerant of chocolate. CHOCOLATE!!! I adjusted fairly readily to eliminating gluten, but I will tell you the truth: I wept over not having chocolate. But, after a year or so being g.f., chocolate was no longer a problem!! Woo hoo!!

That’s great about the chocolate! It would be soooo cool if I could eat chicken, turkey, eggs and/or milk again, even if only just a little bit now and then!!!!
